No New Beds

Across the country, organizers are fighting jail and prison expansion, and winning.

In Atlanta, the Community Over Cages coalition has made major gains in the campaign to stop a new mega-jail. In Massachusetts, Families for Justice as Healing is fighting a proposed women’s prison with a price tag of more than $300 million. Join Robyn Hasan-Simpson, executive director of Women on the Rise; Kira Matthews of Families for Justice as Healing; and In These Times contributors October Krausch and Micah Herskind, who wrote "No New Beds" along with Priscilla Grim, for a conversation about how communities are organizing to stop new cages before they are built.

Moderated by J. Patrick Patterson of In These Times.
